At Oxford Autogas we specialise in LPG conversions. We work with two of the leading manufactures of gas equipment, BRC and Landi who have over 85 years experience in Autogas technology.
We are members of the LPGA (UKLPG) who are the trade association for the LPG industry in the UK. Anyone having a car converted should make sure their installer is a member of this association. We are also part of the National Autogas network and CLS Duel Fuel network, which gives us nationwide coverage.
There are people out there who give the gas industry a bad name, mainly by carrying out poor quality conversions. We take a great deal of pride in our work and like to make our conversions not only safe and reliable but look, where possible, as if they were part of the original design of the car. We don't claim to be the cheapest and we don't claim to do the job in a day. We do claim to do a first class conversion using high quality gas equipment which we fit to a very high standard. Sometimes the cheapest can work out to be the most expensive in the long run.
To make life more convenient for you we offer a FREE collection and delivery service for your vehicle and will, if needed, help arrange a replacement car whilst yours is being converted.
Prior to any conversion work starting we give your car an inspection to ensure that it’s suitable for conversion. You’re vehicle emissions will be tested and recorded and the general running of your engine will be checked to make sure there are no faults.
Conversions can take from a few days up to a week depending on the vehicle and the complexity of the conversion. We don’t rush the job as the only time we want to see you afterwards will be for servicing or to have your next vehicle converted.
After we’ve carried out the conversion we’ll give you a drivers manual for the system and show you all you need to know regarding re-fuelling and operating the system. You’ll get a FREE tank of gas and a FREE 1000 mile service where we’ll check that everything is as it should be.
Most of the gas equipment on this BMW engine is hidden away under the original engine cover. The only noticeable item is the red gas safety solenoid in the right of the picture.
Here the tank is mounted in the floor of the vehicle where the spare wheel originally was. Due to their construction these tanks are safer than the cars original petrol tank.
The filler is generally either mounted in the rear bumper or a rear panel on the car. These can be colour coded to match the original paintwork or left black.
The combined switch and gauge is neatly mounted into the dash. A sequence of lights tells you how much gas is in the tank and another light tells you if the engine is running on gas or petrol.
